Why Brand Identity
Matters

Authority

Established in 1996, College and Career Academy holds the highest accreditation term a school can receive from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges: a full six years, while lower performing schools often hold terms of only one to three years. Courses are approved by the UC and CSU systems, so every diploma keeps a real college path open.

Retention

Ninety five percent of parents and families surveyed say they are satisfied or very satisfied with the school and program. With classes of only 15 to 20 students and about one counselor for every 30 students, no one gets lost in the crowd the way they might have at a campus of two or three thousand.

Growth

Every one of the six campuses has open seats today under an ongoing, open enrollment policy with no deadline and no waitlist. Adding 100 to 150 new students before December would fund a stronger program for every current and future student across the network.

Positioning &
Strategy

College and Career Academy is the free, WASC accredited charter high school network for Los Angeles youth and young adults who want a real second chance, guided by teachers who work with every student in person every day, and built around small campuses, vocational training, and a genuine path to college or career.

Strategic Anchors

"A Second Chance, Not a Label"
"Free. Accredited. In Person."
"Known By Name, Not By Number"
"College Track or Career Track, Your Choice"
"Small Campuses, Real Support"
"Open Enrollment, All Year Long"

Top Parent Objections — Addressed

1
Isn't this a continuation school for troubled kids? No. College and Career Academy is a WASC accredited public charter school open to any student who could benefit from a smaller, more personal learning environment. Many students arrive behind on credits, but that is not a requirement to enroll.
2
It's small and doesn't have sports or a big campus. That is by design. Classes of 15 to 20 students mean every student gets real attention instead of getting lost in a school of two or three thousand.
3
I have never heard of this school. Is it real? Yes. It is approved by the California Department of Education, accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and its courses are approved by the UC and CSU systems for college eligibility.
4
My child needs to work or feels anxious about attending in person. Most students do better with daily in person instruction, but the principal can build an independent study schedule for students who truly need one.
5
Is there a deadline or a long waitlist to worry about? No. Enrollment is first come, first served, all year long, with open seats at every campus right now.

Free, WASC Accredited Diploma

A real high school diploma program, not a GED or independent study track, with courses approved by the UC and CSU systems for college eligibility.

Small Class Sizes

Fifteen to twenty students per class and roughly one counselor for every thirty students, so no one gets lost or overlooked.

Vocational Training and Paid Work

Partnerships with YouthBuild and the Conservation Corps offer free CNA and construction training, with paid work opportunities for students who want them.

Open Enrollment, All Year

No application deadline and no waitlist. Seats are open right now at all six campuses across Los Angeles.

Primary — Light Background

College and Career Academy seal on dark background

On Dark Background (no invert applied)

Clear Space

Maintain space equal to at least the width of the outer ring on every side so the seal never feels crowded against text or other elements.

Minimum Size

Never reproduce below 80px digital or 1 inch in print. The fine serif lettering and crest details need room to stay legible at any size.

Misuse

Do not recolor, stretch, rotate, add drop shadows, or apply an invert filter. The navy and tan seal is fully self contained and reads correctly on both light and dark backgrounds exactly as designed.

Classroom and Vocational Training in Action

Students working on Chromebooks in smartboard equipped classrooms, CNA students practicing clinical skills, and construction trainees learning hands on trades through YouthBuild. Favor natural light, genuine concentration, and real teacher to student moments over posed or stock looking shots.

Milestones and Community Moments

Graduation walks, prom, Grad Nite, the annual camping trip, and Track Lab recording sessions. These images should reflect the pride of a second chance earned, showing students of every age from 14 to 25 achieving something they were once told was out of reach.

Voice &
Tone

01 — VOICE

Encouraging, Never Judgmental

College and Career Academy never leads with what a student did wrong. Every message affirms that falling behind on credits is common, and a real diploma is still fully within reach.

02 — VOICE

Direct and Reassuring

Families deserve clear, immediate answers about accreditation, cost, and timeline. The voice states facts plainly: free, WASC accredited, and open enrollment all year long.

03 — VOICE

Warm and Personal

With counselor ratios near one to thirty and campuses under 100 students, every message should sound like it comes from someone who already knows the student by name.

04 — VOICE

Bilingual and Inclusive

With family populations that are roughly half Spanish speaking across every campus, every core message should be ready to run in both English and Spanish without losing its warmth.
